Melting into the hospital halls
Emptying my soul into the merciless cries
We all hum the same tune of agony and prayer. We all give our all, lest to be faltered by defeat.
There are moments of unendurable, unending torment that flows with our tears like a river, that flows with our tears like a river...
There are moments of unbelievable LOVE and STRENGTH that there will never be words for. The breakthroughs come in waves, just like our tears. Just when you think you cannot stand it one second longer, when your raggedy body might splice into its bottomless remains, it is He who holds you.
"We are the World" is a song and charity single originally recorded by the super group United Support of Artists (USA) for Africa in 1985. It was written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson (with arrangements by Michael Omartian) and produced by Quincy Jones for the Album, "We Are the World." With sales in excess of over 20 million copies, it is one of the fewer than 30 the all time physical singles to have sold 10 million copies WORLDWIDE, according to Wikipedia
The 80s were a time of unique hope, and a "We ARE" if we band together type of attitude. In art, culture, music, movies, television, and definitely in all presuming POP CULTURE. Unlike the decades before it, gleaming with an innocence, that defined its music, pop culture, art, and even fashion, the 80s were a time of new wavelengths. Unlike its hippie counterpart, and definitely engaging and blending with prior generations, the 80s were a time where new diseases were being discovered. Primarily, A.I.D.S. AIDS was first clinically observed in 1981 in the United States. The INTIAL cases were a cluster of injection drug users and gay men with no known cause of impaired immunity.
Both HIV-1 and HIV-2 are believed to have originated in non human primates in West Central Africa, and are believed to transferred to humans (a process known as zoonosis) in the early 20th century. By September 1982, the CDC officially started using the name AIDS and not GRID, once determining AIDS was not isolated to the gay community and therefore, was completely harmful and misleading.
There was a lot of development for disease in the 80s, including Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Scleroderma, Multiple Sclerosis, Pelvic Floor Disease, Idiopathic GastroParesis, Lou Gehrig's Disease, and countless others that are still a threat to our world daily. That are a threat to our children and society daily. The biggest one of all? Cancer.
